Thanks for the comments everyone! We had compasses (but only one landmark to take a bearing off of, not enough for triangulation) and our phone's GPS', but only occasionally was able to get signal for them. I had considered bringing my Garmin, but figured we'd be okay. Next time I will for sure.
A wise man once told me, "You're never actually lost, it may just take a little longer to get out of the woods."
The personalities of each of us really meshed well too. It could have been soo much worse if one of us had been fretting all the time, but all 3 of us were determined to make the best of it and have a good time, so we did!

Oh man, what an adventure. It sounds like you all had a blast. Thanks for sharing. I love that ingenuity with the rock hang. Perhaps I'll see you up there some time. I need to dig into the Gorge some more. My first/last trip was a bit too quick for my taste. I think the Rat gathering in May might hold more enticing opportunities...

Wow PF, That was quite an adventure. Getting off the beaten path is a challenge in the Gorge and I most always leave some blood behind. I usually take a Rat or two with me to see the less known places and it never disappoints. Glad you had a good time.

Great report, and great off-the-beaten-path shots of the gorge as well!

@FIMB, Yeah man, it'd be great to see you again. I'm working on graduating with my Masters, so I may actually get down there for that one.
@Cakes, I was actually thinking about you a lot on that trip and how much fun it'd be to 'yak the gorge at some point when the water's way up.
We all definitely left some blood, that's for sure.

    Thanks for the comments, everyone!

PF, I forgot that you are working on your Masters too. When do you graduate? I finish my student teaching in May and then graduate in July. Hopefully I'll see you out there.

The first 2 times I tried the Ledge I aimed too low and had to do some serious rotobrawling.I found the trail eventually both times.Shug was with me one time,we like getting each other into adventure.Did you turn left to go up to the top of Hawksbill? If you went past it to go behind HB it will take youto the lower level. There'e a mid level that is the Ledge. It's still fun no matter how you go.
