    yeah, i agree.
im trying to scrounge up some free down from local laundermats but haven't had any luck. i think the polarguard 3d or similar synthetic will be my best alternative if my "cheapness" isn't fruitful. I am really concerned with space (50L bag is fairly full of cold weather clothing at this point) so compressability is real big for me right now.

Any recommendation on a highly compact and lightweight synthetic?

It's not the ducks you have to worry about, it's the geese Those **** critters used to terrorize my dogs pretty much every day before we moved where we are now... They're NUTS!

Yeah, my youngest daughter used to terrorize them at the park....Until she was bitten (yes, bitten) by one on the fourth point of contact. She doesnt much like to feed the geese anymore! BD

ever startle a swan's nest? 8ft wing span coming at you with some serious fiercness. we had to beat the poor thing of with our paddles...
not as funny as it might sound, (i never knew birds could make those type of noises either...)
felt kind of bad for the thing until i realized it probably could hemmorrhage my jugular or something else...

Swans are the most mean tempered birds of all birds. They will attack man on sight without provcation. My father-in-law raised swans and he had to take a shovel as a self defense club with him when he entered their pen.

I tend to think in layers for temp..i will admit the jrb is a far better cold liner( below 30 lets say) but i have used a mil poncho as a under liner in temps say 45 deg. and up and was very happy with it..

That reminds me of a funny story. I used to row compeditively. One summer there was a swan that made it's nest about 30 ft from our dock. My time you launched or docked she would swim at the boat making her honking noise with wings fully out. Kind of funny to she a swan swim at a 60' boat. The first few times we would try not to hit it. After a couple times of 'accidently' hitting the thing square on the neck with the end of a 15' oar (which by the way doesn't even phase them), it stopped coming after us. But it still made quite the noise.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
