I have a Big Agnes Mica synthetic bag right now I like it but it doesn't pack down very small and takes up way too much space in my pack. Other Walmart items I need to look for include braided line, and check for stakes as well. I plan to get a king size pillow (same one I love and use on my bed at home) and cut it in half and sew up the ends to make 2 small car camping versions. Should be easy to sew 2 straight lines lol. Maybe the sleeping bag will go on sale one day and make the decision to get one even easier.
Walmart has a nifty function on their website, you enter your zipcode and it tells you the stores in your area that have the item in stock. That's how I found mine

Omg cool feature of the website. I used it and it states limited stock at a Walmart about 24 minutes from me in Florida wow didn't think I would find a down sleeping bag in stock here. Thinking of driving out there later tonight. Hope limited stock means in stock lol I think I'll call first. Thanks for pointing out that to me Athos.

Just picked up three here in the Twin Cities area (MN) at two different stores. They were in the clearance area at both stores, for some reason and less than 40$ each. Good project bags, and I'll keep one 'stock.' I like the nylon used, and will probably stuff one up with the 800FP down I have in two pillows from Amazon.com. Whoopee!

I used mine last night and Im not going to lie... I was cold! But I didnt fluff it up before, as in tennis balls and dryer, and we camped right next to a waterfall that was misty (though I had a tarp) and I was in shorts and a tshirt under the sleeping bag. It is smaller inside than I expected but I like it alot

I was at Wal-Mart and had nearly the same experience. Same price as well. I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but hope to soon. Regardless, I couldn't pass it up for the price.

Which pillows are you referring to? I'm interested in doing the same thing myself but it looks like most of the affordable pillows are 95% feathers and 5% down.

    IDJAY,
Yeah the pad stinks...out loud. I don't think I paid anything for it, so it is safe to say it was worth every cent. Did you get anything back for it when you returned just the pad to Walmart?

Could it be used to make an inexpensive Under Quilt?

Not sure if it can be used to make an Under Quilt, however I did buy the bag as a 'back up' bag for guests who go backpacking with me. OR who knows.

I hate down, it makes me sneeze and it smells like wet dog ... I'm sure DUCK down will be worse.

But it could be useful under the hammock. We'll see.

    750 FP Pillows

I purchased 2-750FP pillows supposedly filled with 28oz of goose down in November last year for 170$. I have not weighed them to report on the exact amount of down, but can verify that the 750FP looks mighty downy and good. The company was 'SheetsnThings' and the listing looked like, "Set of Two 500 Thread Count 750 Fill Power Egyptian Cotton Queen/standard Size White Goose Down Pillows- Set of 2 Pillows"

I'll have enough down for a few projects--if you add in the less-than-750 feather/down stuff I've harvested from coats, sleeping bags, and other stuff with my vacuum cleaner in past months. I didn't see any 800FP pillows that were affordable to me.
