Talking Successful 1st hang in Texas (2 nights)

I'm a newbie here. I bought a ENO DN, ENO guardian bug net and Kammock Python Straps at my local outfitter store here in San Antonio (Whole Earth at Quarry) on Valentine's day (2-14-13). I did a quick test hang in at the house and then took it with me on a camping/astronomy trip in the Texas hill country the follow day (Feb. 15-17). I spend two nights out at a spot west of Concan, Texas. The temp dipped into the 20s over night but I was warm. I used a cheap blue tarp I had to to protect me from wind and dew. It turned out nice. I'm hooked. I also wish there were more trees in Texas in which to hang. I'll have to explore East Texas more. It was very nice. As I fell laid in the hammock Friday night I read the last part of Ultimate Hang on my Kindle PW.

The trip was a two night hang.

Here are pictures from my first hang.

Here is the temp the Saturday morning at sunrise.. after my fist full night in the hammock.

Looks like a great first hang! I like the cactus. The look very similar to the prickly pears I have in my backyard.

Sweet, I'm still looking forward to my first hang.

Congratualtions on a good first hang!

Nice looking country, there. Have you ever been over to Ft. McKavett for one of the star parties there?

What did you use as an underquilt?

Yes. I've been there a few times when the JSC group was out there.

We may have met, depending on how long you've been going out there. I used to be one of the re-enactors out there interpreting one of the Captain's Quarters around 2000-2004.

Its a great place and one of the best kept secrets in Texas. I just wish they had campgrounds there.

Didn't have one. Just had a couple of CCF sleeping mats inside the hammock.
