Wow. I am amazed at the speed at which you bust these out. Good work!
Ok Rev. I have a couple questions. What is twill tape made from? And what would be the difference in weight and strength between the bias tape method and the twill tape method of finishing the ends?
I think the twill tape I have is probably cotton. We've had it for years and the roll doesn't say anymore if it ever did. It is fully encased in silnylon so I am not overly concerned about it rotting. "Twill" is a weaving pattern, so I suspect you can get polyester twill nowadays although I must confess I have never looked for it.
Strength I would assume is roughly the same although I have no way of measuring it. As far as weight goes.... that's your homework for the week.... hehehe. I ain't no gram weenie so I have no idea. I would guess it would be about the same.

I did a quick search about bias tape. Do you make yours or buy it? What's better as far as looks and price?
I'll do another little search on twill to see if they make it from polyester. I suspect it would make the roll hem a lot easier.
Making bias tape is an awful prospect in my mind. Bias tape is called that because of the diagonal thread patterns. Trying to cut yardage on the 45* angle in order to get that pattern would drive me bugnuts. not to mention ironing the edges over. My money is on "buy it"
Polyester twill tape is easily available in a 1/2" width. I used 1/4" but that's what I have.

Where do you buy your bias tape & is it poly/cotton or what?
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.
Wally World sell bias tape. (Or they still do around here.) We've had this stuff for ages. I got a whole bunch of partial and single packs left over from sewing projects my wife was involved in. I think most of what you can get from Joann's and Wal-Mart would be polyester.
