i have been using tents for camping as far as i can remember from young.... its been fun camping with my parents.
got distracted by a facebook post in a few months ago, went to a blog on camping from tent to hammocks.
decide to buy a double hammock to try camping with my partner..

it was bad actually since he didn't sleep well.... haha. but i started to love hammocks.
been sleeping alone in hammock if i go camping now.
probably shld get another hammocks for him so that its 2 hammocks but at least better than 1 tent 1 hammocks :P

Shug! and the idea that I could stop anywhere on a remote paddle and hang a hammock without having to find an open flat spot for a tent.

I started trying to find a better way to sleep while on the trail. On nearby trails I like to step off the trail find a quiet spot and rest maybe eat a little. Setting up a tent was just a hassle so i switch to hammocks which also lighten the load. My back thanked me!! Four hammocks later I'm a happy camper😉

My first backpacking trip was filled with mud, and uneven terrain. Thus my interests in hammocks was born.

I like to be different and so while browsing around my local MEC (Think REI for those of your south of the border) and I happened to see Hennessy Expedition Asym Classic and I was instantly hooked. At the time I didn't realize that Hammock Camping was as popular as it is. Occasionally circumstances have forced me to revert to ground dwelling in a tent, but I continue to use my Hammock when ever I am camping.

Years before the personal computer, BBS's and internet forums, I strung a Guatemalan hammock in my garret apartment to cope with hot humid summer nights. Years later, I strung an Eno in my townhouse loft to cope with back spasms from an old spinal injury. Now I use it to sleep in the van when parked off-level.

Hammocking just fits my personal needs.
Lighter, faster, portable, durable, flexible, efficient.

Back country canoe tripping sometimes with no good tent site options, new Adirondack sites have sloped tent sites, waking up in puddles in designated tent spots, and finding Shug's videos.

I started hanging when I was section hiking the northern portions of the AT -- and trying to camp away from the designated shelters. Being off the ground opened up a HUGE range of possible sites that were not flat enough, or not clear enough for a tent.

I stuck with hanging for the comfort and flexibility and because it is cool!

I've been a tent camper all my life. I have lower back trouble so although I saw people hammock camping I didn't consider it because I didn't think my back would tolerate sleeping in a hammock. I've been section hiking the AT, and have had occasions where I've spent as much as two hours looking for a place to tent camp, meanwhile, hammock campsites were nearly everywhere. I decided for this year's section hike to give hammock camping a try, and I'm a total convert.
