What kind of price are we looking at, Snydman? I'd like to get one, but with a few minor alterations.

May want to try Cave Creek Hammocks. They make something very similar. I have one and I love it. If you require alterations that are not provided in the options Rick at Cave Creek will work with you. https://squareup.com/store/cave-cree...tem/pet-palace

I really like the looks of that pet palace. Looks like a tough enough floor. I think training my dog in tent etiquette is applicable introducing your dog to a safe introduction to using a pet palace too, i.e. you don't leave, or try to leave, until I give the go ahead.

Sigh, looks like another piece of kit I can't get along without.

Wow. Last time I posted in this thread was over 4 years ago.
Our little three man tent is still going strong for the dogs. We no longer have our retriever or boxer/lab (brain tumour and cancer), but we have three new dogs. All rescues from the Northern reserves.
We just finished an 8 day canoe trip into Quetico with myself, my wife, our three kids, and the three dogs (aged between 1.5 years and under 4 months).
We had a foam sleeping mat cut into three sections to put under the dogs in the canoes. We slid these under the tent at night. Inside we put an Ozark Trail picnic blanket. It is fleece on top and rubber on the bottom. Makes a great vapour barrier. Over the tent we now use a Paha-Que double tarp. It's quite versatile and gives us extra dry space to store gear. All of their gear stows in a small dry bag and weighs probably under 5 lbs.

Nice set up Whiskeyjack. Sounds very practical for canoe/rafting trips. I have a small Alcott tent that fits under the corner of the tarp. I find the biggest problem is zipping the border collie in to keep the bugs at bay. That is what I like about the pet palace set up, i.e. you both are in or out and the bc doesn't feel claustrophobic in a small tent.

Luckily all of our dogs are Rez dogs. Bugs really don't bother them. We also tend to plan our canoe trips in May and July-Oct. Less bugs out then and usually cooler as well. Our current dogs only go in the tent at night, if they're tired they just curl up wherever. Our boxer/lab lived in the tent. He was always cold or fleeing the bugs (they swarmed him mercilessly).
I do really like the idea of the inclusive bug net though. I'm sure I will eventually try it out.
