    OutandBack, that is amazing.

Without hijacking this thread, is there another thread on your setup? Got a link? I would love to know more about the process and story. As a hammock newb, I have never seen a hammock hot tent. I am curious about the weight as this seems like a car camping setup to me. I am intrigued.

“The word hammockable (Meaning: two trees that are the perfect distance apart between which a hammock can be hung) is not in the dictionary, but it should be.”

Hi Guys, Sorry I was late getting to this.

@North I believe the sylnylon used for the tarp and griz beak is 1.3. I did not not get any snow on this trip. But it was still fun poking at the fire while reading before bed time in my long johns.

@Burg54, There is a project thread somewhere deep in the forums archives I did not bookmark it, sorry. The complete package weighs 6 lbs. I have carried it in my backpack but prefer a pulk.
I can offer you the link to my picture page(photos are not in any kind of order) where you can see some of the testing and design progress.

May I ask where you got your poles. They are very unusual given the bend at the top ridge. I was considering you poles like Underground Quilts used in their Winterdream tarp. Why did you go with a peak as opposed to a rounded pole mod.

I believe I bought all my poles at a place called quest? I went with a steep peak because I wanted the tarp to be self shedding.
I did many backyard tests to determine what tarp angle was needed so the snow would just fall off on its own.
That whole wake up on your own every few hours and tap the snow off your tarp did not sound like something I wanted to do.

Quest outfitters dot com has different angled peak ends to use for a custom pole set.

Thank you James. In my 40's and 50's my mind could store so much data and details on a DIY projects.
But now in my late 60's my mind seems to be in some kind of slow data dump mode. Details are harder and harder to access.
https://www.questoutfitters.com/ is the place to go for all your tarp pole needs no matter how esoteric. hth

    Hammock Hot Tent

I have a whole bunch of fittings from Quest.. from my good friend Sqidmark.

I'm not using any of them. If you (any of you) need something, let me know. I may have it in stock. It would be great to know his gear is back on the trail.
