On your web site you say the hammock is 114" X 56". Is that 56" high or 56" wide. Guessing you mean high, but not sure. Later you say the poles are 54.5 in long, which to me says it can't be 56" high. Thanks,

The fabric body is 56" wide. Since the struts are 54.5" long, but they're at an angle, the hammock is probably 30-36" high once the system settles.

Great review Jeff; thanks for posting.

I also had the opportunity to test the Handy Hammock and I put on the BIAS Micro and Hennessy Hammock on the stand and they fit just fine. Photos and review here:

Oh, and I guess I should mention this:

I am NOT sponsored by Handy Hammock, nor do I have any business relationship with them, in case anyone thought differently or was curious. As I stated in my review, I was given a review sample upon request.

I do not receive any royalties, kick-backs, or renumeration for any of this. My review was as objective as I could make it, detailing what I saw were flaws or challenges with the stand.

Anyway, I just thought MAD777 and Roadrunner72 might be interested that I tested the stand with an 11' hammock. It works.

Thanks Dejoha and Jeff for the review.

I know the price is pretty steep. Would there be opportunity to have a potential groupbuy for the forums members? Maybe just the stand without the hammock, since most of us have a hammock already.

This seem like something that i want to get my hand on to try it out. Are there anybody else who are interested in buying the stand if we can get a deal?

    Thanks.

Did someone say "group buy without the hammock?"
I would be interested, depending on the price.

    Thanks MAD777

If we have enought interest, maybe we can request a longer pole.

And Jeff and Dejoha, looking at the stand, how much work would require to do a DIY stand similar to it, so we can design with different height?

    Thanks.

This would be pretty difficult to DIY unless you had some skills. The aluminum poles might be easy to customize, but the plastic pieces are probably injection molded. I'm sure it would be possible to DIY one, but probably not worth the investment in time and money.

I can't speak for the vendor about selling without the hammock, obviously. If I were the vendor, I'd be a little leery of selling it without the hammock just because of how the parts work...have to control for people using it wrong and getting hurt, then getting mad at the maker. With the hammock integrated into the system, it works pretty well. I'm sure there's a workaround in there, but that means more R&D for the vendor.

But I'm not the vendor! Maybe they see things completely differently from me! And I do plan on modding this one to use with different hammocks.

    It's definitely worth asking!
