Does your hammock have the knotty mod? I've found that it makes steeper sides and helps keep things in place. It's also easy and cheap to do it if you haven't already.

Hi Mule,
Drafts have been an issue for me since switching to a TQ.
30+ years of using a SB I miss the zipper and the hood right away.
My solutions is to use a down coat with hood. Gloves and stocking cap also help.
I side sleep only and found an 11' hammock fits the bill.
Side sleeping has been no problem in my Switchback, Snipe or custom Winter Gnome.
Best of luck.
I used a 12' hammock for a while and could get great flat lay for side and even stomach sleeping, I then had issues with UQ sealing up due to the more extreme diagonal lay. If you have a full length UQ this may not be as much of a problem.
I found that in gathered end hammocks I could sleep on my side almost balled up, with ther knotty mod, never experienced much cold drafts with it on the sides. Then experienced the lay of the BMBH UL and wow factor was everything in sleeping on side fully stretched out with TQ and with the high sides it was pure purfection till the RR came along. I would occasionally but not much, experience a small amount of shoulder squeeze every now and then in the BMBH UL but never minded it much if at all. Then, getting sucked in by all the reports, got a single layer, with bug net, WB RR bridge and the wow factor in the lay, sleeping any where is absolutely the most in the perfection of bridge hammocks. I sleep with the 4 inch extension out of the head spreader bar and by far, its for me, the best ever hammock I have ever slept in and with the sides a dash high, don't have any problem with the TQ other than some times have to vent as I find it under me when I am on my sides at times, and have to vent to keep from getting way too toasty. What a problem to have. If I were in a sleeping bag, I know I would be burning up. But that is me. Love the setup I have. I have even tried sleeping on my stomach even tho I don't, and have for a while before switching to side or back. This hammock and the material its made of, 1.1 ripstop, has just the right amount of stretch and flatness and width combined for the perfect lay I seek. I also use full length UQ's except in the summer and the UQ is a 50 degree Jarbridge which is fairly light for a synthetic.
