    Help with Gutterman thread

I need a little advice. I have been using my wife’s sewing machine and already made a hammock and a couple stuff sacks. I bought some Gutterman thread from DIY Gears Supply however the ID of the spool is larger than a normal spool of thread. It works but the spool wobbles around on the top of the machines thread holder and I was wondering how others may deal with this. Is there an easy fix or should I just live with it.

    Thanks
    Mel

I've just been living with it. It's a pain, I know. Maybe someone will chime in with a bit of wit for this problem.

The only time it is a problem for me is when I'm winding bobbins... so I just put a finger next to it so it doesn't go nuts...

This is my experience as well. Every once in a while a couple of loops will fall off of the spool and cause problems, but not often unless winding bobbins.

I loop the thread over the holder and let the spool sit in a bowl next to the machine.

This is my experience as well. However, very occasionally, the thread gets wrapped around the spindle and causes a thread break. I'm liking the sound if the bowl idea! Thanks amcneily!

For years I used a big spool of thread I bought from ED Speer-----it was one of those big cones of thread. I just put the cone in an old camping pot, and ran the thread thru a biner I attatched to the shelf above my sewing machine, and then ran it into the sewing machine. The cone would wobble around inside the pot, but it worked very well for me! The only drawback was, we have several 4 legged companions in our house that are fascinated with string---so they loved to "help" me sew! (my gear room has since been declared a CFZ---------cat free zone, for every ones protection!)
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

+1 on the thread gallows. Took me about 5 minutes to make one out of junk I had laying around my work bench. Most of that time was spent sorting through said junk.

Scrap of 2x4 about 6" long, 1 screw about 1.5" long, 1 empty 30.06 cartridge embedded into the 2x4 for the fatter spools.
Thread problems due to spool wobble were causing a lot of problems.

Will get a pic up soon after I feel like going out to my Thread Injector Sweat Shop that's now 17*
