I like the people and I like the topic. Works for me!

Roger that, plus the DIY gear making instructions and expertise are second to none IMO...
AND we have frequently helpful Quants roaming loose (free range!) on the site, some of which are even able to translate complex esoteric topics and equations into plain English, more or less.

isn't this like asking a player in the NFL if football is their favorite sport?

Are there other forums?
It is almost(but not quite) my only outdoor forum, as well as #1. And a good thing, I don't need to be spending this much time in additional outdoor forums.

I used to spend time with my dutch oven cooking group, they lost me. This was way more fun and informative. In addition, I can always cook something up that is good, now I am constantly getting more and better sleep. That is hard to beat. Makes the rest of my outdoor experience so much more pleasureable.
I also really appreciate the way folks respect each other here. Incredibly enough, even in the DO group, people got obnoxious and rude.

In my pursuit of backpack knowledge and brethren I looked and joined a few sites and was put off by the "know it alls" and lack of courtesy. This site has terrific technical info and everybody truly seems to want you/me to succeed in whatever endeavor is in question.
What keeps me here is the respect and the interesting people. Maybe we are just happier because we are "above" it all.... get it? Hee-hee.
Thanks all and let us keep the bar high and always take the high roud.

I agree with what everyone's said so far, except what Neo said here:
Neo, I think you fit in here just fine! Part of what I really like about this site is the different characters there are here- they all blend in nicely ! It wouldn't be the same without you, Neo. I would have never even considered camo before...
