That's all good sunkmail, we can do something more accessible so that everyone can come out. Maybe we should do a car camp for the first one and get to know one another and abilities? Squamish has a lot of car accessible spots.

I was at Cat lake last may. It's just north of Squamish and drive in. Lots of hang spots, bear bags, out houses and close enough to town to go for pancake mix if you forget it.

Wish I could get out that way. The flatlands are starting to get under my skin.

I'll be back on the coast in two weeks. If nothing is planned by then I can plan it. There's a few spots in the Elaho Valley I'm thinking of. Not much hiking, just drive in and hang. Easy for everyone with a first trip so we can get an idea of what everyone is looking for down the road. High@HighOutdoors, anything narrowed down?

I went up the canyon the other day and there's gonna be too much snow still. I think the Elaho sounds great. I know the area pretty well and there are a bunch of great spots. I'm hoping the road is plowed all the way up there. They usually stop at the bridge or sometimes before depending on the work going on up there.but if we can't make it to the Elaho there's still the squamish valley part of it though. From 20 mile to 28 or so where it crosses the river and becomes the Elaho.

    FYI -

I took a look at Porteau's campsite with hanging in mind.

Of the 22 (I think) walk-in sites, only about 5 of them would be suitable for 2+ hangers. Most of the others will handle a single hanger.

I didn't look too closely at the (~44) drive-in sites, as I would rather not be next to huge camper set-ups.

Doesn't seem like this would be a good location for a group hang after all.

I would agree with that. The squamish valley and Elaho are gonna be our best bet I think.

    Take care out there, HighOutdoors.
