I got one of Brian's SpinnTex tarps. I like that it stays tight through the night. It's a bit noisier like everyone says, but you get use to it. I think SpinnTex will replace silnylon as the standard for tarps pretty quickly. It's more expensive, but not that bad. For a 8 X 10 cat cut tarp it's $95 vs $155. Sounds like a lot, but it's about 25% lighter - 16.5 oz vs 12.5 oz and, from what I read above, stronger.

What colors does Spinntex come in? Petty, but still...

No green that I know of NCP. I've only seen the grey color so far.

Bummer. I guess I don't mind using different tarps for different seasons. It means I get a new view every few months.

The color will be what keeps it from replacing Sil. Once they find a way to color it though...

the spintex that thru-hiker has (not sure about oes, but it's probably the same mill) is narrower, so the superfly would have to be sized down from it's 10'6" width. probably looking at 9' instead. i'd like to mess around with some, no immediate plans though.
