Seasons greetings!!!
Temperatures are dropping and the daylight's dwindling. Sounds like a perfect time to fluff up the down quilts and have another Valens Winter Hang.
All are welcome. Drive-to campsites, a heated washroom, showers and plenty of spots to hang a hammock. To top it all off, a roaring campfire and plenty of hot beverages.
The date hasn't been fixed, but I'm going to suggest the weekend of Jan 17-19 for a one or two nighter.

Canada>Ontario>EGL Winter Backcountry 2013-2014
When there's snow on the ground and the temperature's well below freezing most sensible people simply turn up their furnaces or catch a flight to warmer climes. A few intrepid souls (or "crazy people" depending on who you're talking to) take it as a queue to bundle up with scarves and hats, load up a sled, strap on some skies or snowshoes and head out to find a remote stretch of forest to camp for a few nights of what they consider "fun". Some even go so far as to encase themselves in a feather cocoon and dangle themsleves between two trees. Madness.... Sheer madness...
Let the madness begin...

Canada>Ontario>Algonquin>EGL Canoe Hang - Summer 2014 - Aug 1-4
Hi all,
I can't think of a better way to enjoy this glorious weather than by doing a long weekend of canoeing and hammocking with friends.
When: August 1-4th, 2014
Where: A minor point that I'm sure we'll resolve in the weeks to come. Personally, I'm eager to spend a few extra hours on the road in favour of new vistas further north. Of course, northern Algonquin is beautiful, but places like Temagami, the Spanish, the French or La Cloche have always interested me.
As always, this is an open invitation to all interested.
Follow the planning thread here.

EGL Fall 2014 Canoe Hang
Where: Algonquin somewhere off of Hwy 60 (Pen? Burnt Island? Boncherre? Big Trout? McIntosh?), although something in Killarney that might be interesting. We'll stay on the same site for the weekend.
When: Either of the last two weekends of September to usher out trout season (Sept 19-21, Sept 26-28).
Pen worked out quite well for us last year, but we can't be sure to get those same great sites.
Find the planning thread here.

EGL Late Fall 2014 Last Dash Canoe Hang
www.langfordadventure.com
I was thinking about doing a quick dash up north for a late season paddle on either Nov 7-9 or Nov 14-16, 2014 depending on the weather. It'd be a chance to get in some final canoeing for the year and raising a toast to Sergeant-at-Arms Vickers. I've got it into my head to make the drive up to Killarney. With the leaves off of the trees, the white quartzite ridges of the La Cloche Mountains’ should be all but gleaming. It's been 15 years since I've dipped a paddle up there, it's long overdue. It's low season so the park's not accepting reservations at this time of year; it's first come first served, so we shouldn't have a problem finding sites, particularly as I wanted to camp on a different site each night. As a backup, Algonquin's on route. Crown land's an option as long as it's quiet, without cottages or powerboats and there are trees to hang by.
