Sorry, I don't have my receipt anymore so I'm not sure about the UPC codes. The rings are about 1.5" OD and if memory serves me right, they were rated for at least 200 lbs each. Got them on the hardware isle. There was a lot to choose from and all would work.

I would say that it is a bit less stable as compared to being tied off to 3 trees, however it is very manageable. For several weekends now I've been experimenting with sleeping in different configurations and I am most comfortable with my feet at the spreader bar end. It rotates more at the feet end but I like that because it gives me an even flatter lay by lowering my feet with respect to my hips. Even with the mod, I find it to be more stable than the BMBH (that may not mean anything to you but is the only other thing that I can compare it to for reference).

    Spreader bar

Thanks, Keith. That's what I'd hoped to hear. I think I'll order a JRB bar for my Flex.

Purely to hold tension on my UQ so that it stays snug against the bottom of the hammock. It is actually a piece of shock cord.

Modified Suspension - Spreader Bar Sway Guy Lines

In an effort to give the spreader bar end even more stability, I modified the suspension system to include sway guy lines that go down to the base of the tree. I am very happy with this arrangement as this is nearly identical to using two trees. Each sway guy line has a figure 9 attached so that I can adjust the tension after everything else is set. At the base of the tree is a string with a carabiner and a prusick knot to easily adjust to the size. This end of the hammock is now rock solid and it no longer flips on me when the wind blows!

Re: Clark Flex 180 Mods. Two tree use

    Keith,
That looks great! I'll give it a try the next time I get out. You have your entire suspension modified now!

I just ordered some whoopie slings from JRB and plan to incorporate them also.

Glad you asked Clark. I suspect some other custom sewing with standard parts MIGHT be available from Clark on one of their standard platforms. For example, the triplet of pockets on a Tropical/UL instead of the divided pair. Or the larger triplet of pockets instead of the smaller.
