    bag vs quilt???

Ok you guys are persuasive, I've shaken off my goin back to ground attitude, (what a jack ***). Now gear wise, quilt or bag, these are the two choices I am looking at. I don't see the point in a quilt over a smaller compacted bag, the snazzy quilt as a coat is a strong argument

i would seriously go with the golite ultra 20 quilt. Same thing as that Jacks r better, much better price.

that montbell bag is a great bag as far as i know but it won't be at home in a hammock.

IMO... I prefer a quilt from sheer simplicity. I feel like a beached blue whale trying to roll around and get a sleeping bag of any kind arranged with me in it. I have to get out of the hammock, stand in the bag and fall back into the hammock hoping the bag stays the way I had it arranged. With a quilt I just put my legs in the foot box and then tuck the sides down around or under me. I love it.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I have many options, but I love my Exped Wallcreeper for warmer weather (+40.)

please consider a huge savings on a great sythetic quilt: http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-..._90_quilt.html
you may not use it until spring but its at 50% off retail and is quite nice, as I have seen them in person and I dont need to tell you that the gear presented by BPL is top-notch.
if I had the cash, id get 2!

    otherwise, golite 20 is great.

I was looking at those as well. It is a great price. Just placed my order. Couldn't even make one for that price.

Keep in mind that those BPL quilts are RED and sort of tight fitting. They are just trying to unload the colors that nobody wanted. I like Kelly Green better. Here's a review.

Yep, they are red, but I tend to sleep with my eyes closed and it won't bother me all that much!

ya know you described my ritual as well, what a pain. So the quilt is tucked around or just pulled on top of you? Sounds like a silly question, but not having used one I am curious as to the method. I can see using it as a top quilt with an under quilt but w/o an under quilt, (considering the nest) it seems as though it would be as warm/cold as a bag.

Now I laugh when I go thru the ritual of getting in the bag in the HH, toss, turn, pull, roll, with some more tossin for good measure. I'd love to run a video of the hammock from the outside view of this "procedure".
