I guess I should have clarified that I am looking to find a SECONDARY source--pillow, comforter, etc.--for 700-800FP down. 92$ for a pound may be a good deal for new down purchased from an outdoors supplier, but it can't compare to a 2lb 800FP pillow from ebay for 50-70 bucks. I was asking along those lines.
I see Bloomingdale's My Luxe pillows on ebay now, but I'm still not a winner there. I'll post when that happens. That is 800FP down and ends up being significantly cheaper than buying it as above.
    Thanks!

Check yard sales and thrift stores. I picked up a vintage SnowLion (high end brand from the 70's)down sleeping bag weighing 4lbs for $4. Even in the shell, baffles, and zippers weight 3lbs that price per pound is still great. I see comforters all of the time in the thrift stores locally.
Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

    Junket To K-Mart

What a depressing trip, man. I stopped into the Anoka, MN KMart, crossing the immense, empty parking lot and traipsed in to find downy, salvageable, wildly underpriced pillows. KMart's are ghost towns, peopled by depressed employees and customers that blew in with the wind.

So the pillows WERE there--but nothing usable. I found THESE:

A 15$ wilted feather pillow of unknown contents. But what did I really expect?
So the quest for cheap down continues!

    Exclamation 56OZ of 750FP Down For 167.94$ ($2.99/OZ)

    I'm awaiting delivery on:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00
Two 28OZ 750FP down pillows. My guess is that they are filled with less than 28oz each; I mean, who (besides me) is gonna open the pillow to verify this? Anyway, it's slightly lower fill power, but cheaper and more hassle to acquire.

I had no luck making the Blooming My Luxe pillows on Ebay any cheaper. They always seemed to go up over 4$/oz on the fill. I also contacted two Ebay sellers to see if they had torn/stained/damaged items to sell, but was informed those are re-purposed internally, and that that high of fillpower doesn't exist, etc. In short, no, we don't do that.

So this winter's down projects will (supposedly) be fueled by these two pillows. I'll report.
