cottage hammock and tarp under 100

I am interested in buying a hammock and tarp for under a hundred. I just bought amstel and will be picking up some diy tree straps. I know I can DIY for that price but that's for another day. I just want the hammock and tarp. I was going to buy the one from Crog by Crazy creek and give it to my son but instead i will give him my GT.

The cheapest cottage tarp I know of is the MacCat Micro at $65.

Cottage hammock for $35... don't know if it exists...

You can accomplish this if you go one item cottage, one item not, but I don't think you can get both for under $100. I may be wrong though...

If you remove the word "cottage" you can easily find hammock and tarp for under $100. However, people buy from cottage vendors because they make better products and offer better customer service than the big box vendors like ENO, Grand Trunk, Byer, etc. With better quality comes a higher price, though I don't think any of the cottage vendors are making a killing.

You'll probably end up revising your expectations quickly, or you can wait a long while to adjust them browsing the "for sale" threads. Even buying used, you've picked a tough price point for cottage gear. You're not far off though - raise that $100 to $150 and you'll have a few more possibilities.

You could get an OES MacCat standard for $95, and add a Buttinasling Camper Hammock for $49, not including shipping.

For about $13 you can get a tablecloth and become your own cottage, only takes 5 min to whip the ends and presto instant hammock.

I just got three of these in the mail today and when I purchased them I got both 10% off and free shipping so it was about $35 for three hammocks.
    Good luck,

The lightest cheapest way would probably be the DIY Tablecloth hammock. It would allow you to purchase a lightweight cottage made tarp.

The other way around, probably not so much.

$100 would still make it tight. Harbor freight straps, and biners maybe. Mason line for RL. Learn some knots.

I guess I could pose this as a separate question, but if I weigh 245 and I use a hammock that's fit for 250 how bad am I going to kill it? Bias has that bundle for 65. Then I could diy a tarp or shop for bargains.

so if I did that combo deal what are good upgrades? Suspension straps 72 or 100 for 2.50 more? Dutch whoopie hooks for +13? Aluminum toggles or carbon or binder for 4 more(225lbs) 5 (300lbs)? Ridgline 9" or 7-10 adjustable for 7 more? Dutchware titanium ridge boner for 5.50?

I wouldn't bother with any of those.

I'd go with a single Knotty Mod for 20 bucks. Use it to make a footbox at the foot end at night. During the day, just switch ends and use it up by the head to gather any excess material, if any, that might obstruct your view.

Toggles do not support the load of your hammock. It is the knot that supports it, when properly used, so the carbon fiber should be just fine.

Same for the straps. Really no need to upgrade, there either, unless you anticipate, large trees. Even then, a single long strap or chain link, will usually get you around most stuff. Rarely are they needed on both ends at the same time.

All the Dutchware is wonderful wonderful bling, but none of it is essential(well until you buy your first set, then your cooked). Until I've knocked the big dollars down on Insulation, all that can wait.

Same with the Adjustable RL, Nice, but the fixed one that came with my WW dial's it in pretty well as is. Don't fix or replace until it's broke, sort of thing.
