'cause I'm not dead yet.
hmmm... I wonder how I could be buried in a hammock.

So many trees, so little time...
Curiosity killed the cat! Don't you just love seeing what is on the other side of the mountain? Exploring new horizons?? And in so much comfort???

'Cause tenting sux. 'Cause its more of a "green" method of camping. 'Cause tenters ooh and aah over my setup, whereas I turn my nose at theirs.
Because no matter how much time I spend raking and sweeping, the ground still has rocks, tree roots, pinecones, broken bottles, razor blades, and machetes hidden to the naked eye, but immediately detectable to a body in a sleeping bag.
That, and it's kind of fun to watch the people who made fun of me in my "bear piñata" stumble out of their tents half an hour before 1st light grumbling because they spent the night sleeping on a rock or a tree root or a pinecone or a broken bottle or a razor blade or a machete or some mixture of them all.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock
Nothing beats waking up when it's raining one foot in every direction and your in a bubble of warmth (aka) hammock w/ tarp

1. Flexibility. I don't have worry about making it to the next campsite. I hike until I'm done, find two trees, and voila--home for the night.
2. Comfort. Roots, rocks, and unlevel ground does not an enjoyable sleep make.
3. Dry. Rain water runoff runs below me, not on me.

I enjoy being outdoors and being in a hammock is one of the most comfortable ways that I can think of.
Don't argue with the alligator until after you cross the river.
Because once you go hammock you never go back.
But seriously? At this point sleeping on the ground without a big 'ol pad just sucks. And I've bonded with my hammock a bit, when I think of an adventure, traveling, or sleeping in the woods, I think about my hammock.

+1 on comfort.
+1 on versatility (including customization, tweaking, adaptability).
+1 on cleanliness. Keeping my gear clear of rips, snags, slime, and dirt are huge positives for me. As much as I enjoy camping, I always hated the after-action chores: drying out for mildew, sweeping, cleaning, washing, etc. The preventative maintenance for a hammock suits me perfectly. With care, I can set up my gear without ever touching the ground. Washing, when necessary, is simple and drying is quick. Now, I take less time maintaining my gear after the fact since it is kept in good shape (sort of like healthy eating and exercise vs. hospital visits, maybe?). This in turn means less time "wasted" in maintenance and more time enjoying the activities of the day.

It is fun))))))) and I like the fiddling and tweaking aspect.
