not needed here...there are plenty of outdoor forums that have those.
the mother site of this one has a female sub-forum. female issues are discussed there in earnest.

Actually you could probably say that about almost all of the sub-forums in the donating memeber section. We are certainly not the be-all forum for paddling. But our sub-forums are here because someone suggested a topic because HF members like the to discuss those topics with HF members. They like the vibe here and know they will have great discussions with other respectful HF members.
I don't see any reason not to try it. If it doesn't work out, delete it. Not like publishing a book. In a publication, once there, it's always there. Not so on the web. I love the versatility of the web.

The reason I thought about this to make it easier to find info dealing with ladies. If it goes to members only then I guess that will limit who can see and post as Bigfoot is a donating member but being his wife I am not so.....I was just saying it would be nice.

Happy Camper, I see where you are coming from. It would be nice to have one place to research and read about women's issues. Any donating member could access it, and it would be much easier than trying to sort through a gazillion threads to find the one you want on a women's issue. I think it is worth a try, as you said, if it doesn't work, it can be deleted.
I also agree it would be helpful to the men who are trying to get their significant other interested in hammocking and camping. It could end up being a wealth of information.
Thanks Tweety for the post.

I would find it helpful, as often times the more you venture out into the world of camping(men or women) you run into issues you never thought of until it happens. I do my best to research the threads for what MAY come up in my next trip, but it would be nice to have one place for the ladies info. I'm in the beginning stages of planning an AT thru-hike and it is a LOT easier to go to the subforums instead of picking through search threads that happen to mention the AT in some response.

I would even consider becoming a donating member
ZQ here...HappyCamper has a great idea!
2QZQ Hammock Specialties
Specializing in:
Hennessy Hammock zipper modifications
Sewn on Tarp doors, Pole Pockets, and Grizz Beaks
Ridgeline and gear organizers, peak storage bags, UQ protectors, 2QZQ tree table!
Not to take the shine off of that idea, but donations are not really the focus of HF. They are more of a by-product of having great discussions with great people.

So true! The subforums are just another place for topics that aren't hammock specific, which many of the threads on a women's subforum might be. I really don't see the difference between a female member asking for a women's subforum and a paddling member asking for a paddling subforum. It's not like the paddling forum ever said, "If you don't paddle, you can't come in." It's just another category making it easier to find certain information.
