    ENO underbelly gear sling

Just saw these today while browsing their site... anyone have any good experiences with them, or is there a better option for keeping their gear off the ground?

It depends on your set up. The issue with hanging a gear hammock under you is you need to have your hammock fairly high (if you are shorter). I like to have my hammock at chair height so I can sit for meals and breaks etc. Another issue is if you use an underquilt you need even more room so as not to have the gear hammock compress the quilt. In my typical set up I only have 6 to 8 inches or so from my underquilt to the ground which is not enough to store bigger gear under me.

Another option is something like Just Jeff's gear hammock that hangs beside your hammock.

I was thinking I may get it and set it up on a couple other trees, I have never had to get into my bag during the night. Just wondering how their general performance was...

If you are going to set it up on other trees it might be worth it to just get another smaller and lighter hammock to act as a gear hammock. That way you have another place to sit and lounge without having to undo your sleeping set up or have to pull back your bugnet if you use one. It also provides a spare suspension and could even be rigged up as a makeshift UQ protector. Something like the Grand Trunk Nano 7 or BIAS Weight Weenie are light enough to be added to your gear if you are not a gram counter and they pack very small as well.

This is Eno jumping on something already developed and worked out by Jeff, IMO.

His is more functional, and can be purchased or DIY'd, very reasonably.

Quadruples as a seat, packcover, water bag, gear stash.

I used one last week. You can angle it under the head or foot end of the hammock or have it beside you. I only stored my empty pack and footwear in it. Not worth the $30 IMO.
