I had a shirt with pernethin and it didn't seem to help. The indingenous residence did have this stuff that looked like shoe polish and smelled like burnt tree sap. I don't think it worked either. Total coverage with clothing is all that worked. However the little buggers sneak in between your clothes. I had a line of bites right above my butt where they got between my shirt and pants. Matt from UK Hammocks provides a service where they remove bugnetting from hammocks and installs no-se-um netting. They can crawl through standard bug netting. This is the furtherest point the Roman empire expanded to.I know what stopped them now.
    Peace Dutch

The smell of DEET will just help the little buggers to find you. The only thing that works is Avon Skin-so-soft Dry Body Oil http://availablepitch.com/AVPblog/20...n-skin-so.html

GREAT trip, and report, Dutch! It proves that the Hammocking community is worldwide, and that with an extended family this large, hotels are an afterthought. The scenery alone was worth the trip. Meeting some of our European brethren was special, and I hope they know that the same courtesy will be extended to them should they ever visit here!

Thanks for the great write-up, and pics, and thanks to our across-the-pond counterparts for hosting one of the HF icons!

I haved lived in Stockholm for a year now. I am from USA, Wyoming. I was really bummed that I couldn't make this trip. I was chasing salmon in the north.

I loved your description of the Swedish food! Everything comes in tubes. Did they make you try the one called fish paste? I won't try it.

Swedes and Scandi's in general are very nice people. They love their "nature" or what we call the outdoors.

Maybe I will make the next trip or one when I get home next summer. Angus

Awesome trip report sounds like an awesome time glad you enjoyed your adventures.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Glad you had a good time over here Dutch, you'll be welcome back anytime (that goes for anyone else on here too of course)

I hope to make it over to yours one day so you can offer the same hospitality

In case anyone missed the pics from the Scotland trip, mine can be seen here
