Thread: Bow

    Bow

I have recently been using a bow knot to tie up my hammock. Like how you'd tie your shoes.

Webbing round outside of tree, bring back round to front, (crossing at the back) and tie a bow. I put the loose ends back through the loops a couple of times.

They have held a total of 30 stone. Pretty good ^^

I have used this knot many times to hang my hammock, in fact Hammock Bliss and DD Hammocks recommend with their stock suspension that you use this style knot when hanging.

    So far no falls.

I've seen that often with UK hangers.
the only problem I see is all the extra webbing length needed to come back around the tree and then the bow knot itself
no problem if you don't mind the extra webbing length weight and stowage space

It's not so much of a problem, I usually hang between two trees that are too close as opposed too far away, so I always have extra webbing. Plus I had a lot of cord/webbing whatever it is with the hammock so not a biggie.

    My thoughts exactly

With no pranksters around, that should work just fine.

But to be honest, any quick release knot could be victim to a quick tug in the night...

    A few sore bums
