Question to the board...
Has anyone experimented with a 3 piece 0.625 aluminum spreader bar for the head end on a bridge hammock?

It's not the boulders that throw us off balance, it's the pebbles beneath our feet
Mountain Hanger,
My head end spreader bar is considerably long (42"). When breaking this down into two pieces, it doesn't lend itself for easy packing. That is why I was wondering if you had three smaller pieces of 0.625" Aluminum fit end to end to end, if it would be sturdy enough with an extra joint.
Thanks,

Yes. Many use 0.625" aluminum tubes from quest outfitters. I have used two and three part spreaders cut to length with a hack saw.
Thanks BER. Didn't want to be guinea pig and dodge flying shrapnel if 3 pcs didn't work. Now that I know it's been proven, I will modify my existing spreader bar for 3 pcs.

Like Ber I have also used 2 and 3 piece spreaders. Work just as a single bar would as long as the suspension triangle is not too short.
