One aluminum arrow shaft cut up with one of those little cutters that is used for small water pipe gave me a lifetime supply, maybe. I glued in few inches of bright-colored para-cord to make them easier to see with the flashlight when I drop them (and I do drop them from time-to-time).

A stick/twig. Can usually find one when hanging.
    Also have some carbon shafts.

Large size knitting needles cut to about 3" length. Cheap, light, available, colorful and effective. Olddog gave me some and I like 'em!

Free arrow shaft from a friend whose bow is overpowered for his older aluminum shafts are free... Got 4 pieces 4" long and 2 pieces 6" long out of one... Figure that will last, indefinitely...

My preferred method is actually using a pair of climbing rated 'biners instead of a pair of toggles.

Hang your straps, make your MSH, but run the 'biner through instead of a toggle. Then just clip your whoopie sling through the 'biner, and adjust as needed.

I've had a couple of instances where the whoopie came up over the knot the first time I climbed into the hammock because I didn't have it seated right.

No concern about that happening like this...no possibility of the whoopie sling 'coming off' the strap in any fashion.

Additional weight is negligible, it's a good bit safer (for me at least), and having a few lightweight 'biners around rated to support people is a good thing in my book anyway.
