another noob with a tarp question

I'm another bargain hunter looking to get by as cheap as possible.. ive been using a super duper walmart 8x10' tarp that works good just takes up a lot of room on my bag and is heavy. I was wondering what kind of cheaper tarps everyone is using. and if these 6x9' ebay tarps would be worth a try? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:en

The ebay tarp seems kind of small for a hammock tarp.

Arrowhead and Warbonnet have nice sized tarps for around $100.

You may pick up something cheaper, but it will more than likely be heavier/bulkier. Take your pick.

look at campmor, i got a 10'x12' for around $40. thats the best i can offer...it works like a champ. there was a thread a few days ago about a guy getting the 5x7 survival tarps from walmart, and sewing two together to make a 7x10.(they are about $10 each) another idea if you have a diy bug. anyways my .02...

I'd recommend going with a tarp from one of the hammock specialty vendors listed on this site. They're a bit more pricey, but if things don't work out, you can sell it for nearly 100% of its purchase price.

Bushcraft outdoors has a 10x10 for $60 or if you have some sewing skills get some sil from DIYgear and make it yourself. Personally for a $100 tarps from the vendors on the site are a good deal and made for hammocking.

I have a Chinook 12x9.6. It is a good compromise if the budget is tight(like mine). Here's where I got mine: http://www.fedtacticaldirect.com/sea...y=13&search=GO

I have no affiliation with them, it was just the best price I could find and they usually have them in stock pretty consistently.

$33 plus shipping. They ship pretty quickly too. Good luck!

For the money, I think that the Hennessy Hex tarps are the best deal. You can pick them up brand new for roughly $60 shipped.

Thanks for all the info guys i think i will go with a chinook tarp, it's big enough for a three tree double hang for the wife and I and the price is nearly what i was looking for.. i will look into a smaller diameter lighter one for my personal use when the cash flow allows
