    The simple pleasures in life...

Spent the last few hours rigging my new Warbonnet Edge Tarp for my Hennessy Hammock. Long day at work and it was nice to sit quietly in my study and work on my hammock and rig the new tarp. You know you're a gear nut when it's pleasurable to work with cords, Sbiners, 9biners, etc. If you know what those are, you know what I mean

researched on the web to see if the taped seam should go out or under; the internet is amazing. We forget that sometimes. It's great to learn so much from so many people so easily!

Those Sbiners and 9biners from niteize are worth their weight in gold. If you haven't stumbled across them you need to check them out.

It's fun messing with the gear during these hot times when hanging in the woods would be miserable. I long for the cooler days of fall...

I agree Gideon. I am also a passionate EDC (Every Day Carry) guy. My wife says I am more interested in the gadgets and gear than anything else. There is some truth to it. Don't get me wrong I take the training and spend plenty of days and nights outdoors but sitting and going through the gear is a real pleasure.

One in the same in my mind.

Proficiency, in anything, is greatly benefited by really knowing your gear. Best way to know your gear is to touch it, manipulate it, set it up, or generally fondle it frequently. I can often be found sitting in the living room braiding Amsteel, or tying knots, or running the suspension for the upcoming trip, or, or, or...while watching the idiot box.

It's gear and I love it! You can't say you love something, but only give it attention on the weekends.
    Trust nobody!

Nice to know I'm not as strange as my family suggests.

I'm a professonal purchasing manager; I need to go work for a company that makes outdoor gear!!

I did get that Edge tarp rigged up with a ridge line and it's a sweet set up. Used an S-Biner on one end; loop it around the tree and clip it on, then I used to plastic clips secured to the ridgeline with prussic knots. Those clip to the eyelet on each end of the tarp. Then I secured a 9-Biner to the other end with a prussic knot.

So it goes up in about 5 seconds and all you have to do is adjust the prussic's on each end of the tarps ridge line and you're good to go!

Even spent the time to research the pro's and con's of having the tarp ridgeline above or under the tarp. You'd be surprised how much is out there. I even found a post from the guy at Warbonnet who makes this tarp with his opinion on the matter.

The fall/cooler weather can't come soon enough!
