I came across a 39"x47" piece of reflectex at work today while unpacking some electronic equiptment. What do I need to do to turn this into a pad for my soon to arrive WBBB (shipped today)?

Just cut it to the size you want. That is it. If you want, you can tape the edges.
I think I found all the info I need. Spelled it wrong when I first did my search of the DIY forum. Who would've thought it is spelled with an i?
I believe that "Reflectrix" with an "r" and an "i" is the brand name for shiny, mylar coated, bubble wrap stuff sold as insulation for metal buildings at Home Depot types of stores.
When cutting an underpad to size, there's many ways to do the length. But, you want it wide enough so that the sides of your shoulders will be protected by the pad when you lay in it. You can go full body length, but I found all you really need is from the neck to mid-thigh. I use a little pillow and foot pad inside the hammock for head and feet.

I use reflectix when I need a pad under my feet as I use a short UQ. It works quite well, though it is a complete vapor barrier. It does not breath. So there could be some condensation. As far as warmth, I think it is unbeatable for the weight.

I have a piece I use for under my feet, but I really didn't like the feel if the plastic against my skin when I wear shorts, so I used some spray adhesive and attached a layer of lightweight fleece to the reflectix. It is surprisingly warm...

Not to hijack the thread, but I love this stuff. Homer land has 2'x10' rolls for 20.00. I use to make bottle sleeves and food envelopes. Freeze a steak, drop it in an envelope and it's still cool at dinner. 100's of uses for this stuff.
I likewise love the stuff ! To make your Reflectives breathable use a hole punch to place random holes to give yourself some air to prevent condensation!
