Adventure Rider from Alabama

As the title suggests, I travel and camp on a dual sport motorcycle. I have always used a tent and have never hammock camped but, there is a first time for everything...
My tent camping system is pretty well polished so I am concerned about a drastic change in my setup. But, I am going minimalist, attempting to minimize, or completely eliminate any load on the back of the bike. So my intention is to condense my entire camping system into a small-ish lightly loaded backpack. I ordered a Hennessy, but haben't tried it yet. My first trio will be with a tent setup just in case,but I have taken a few naps in the Hennessy and so far, I think it's going to work just fine. I've also made a couple a DIY setups for the back yard, just for experimentation. I'll post some pics in the DIY section for any tips or suggestions.

Greetings and welcome from another dualsport camper in Knoxville, TN! What kind of steed do you ride? I'm using a Suzuki DR400s and it has served me quite well so far. I'm brand new at the hammocking and about to order mine tonight for a dualsport camp/meet on the 28th.

I will be doing the same as a just-in-case measure as well! lol Looking forward to the pics and welcome to the crazy crew. I never knew a few people could get so rabidly enthusiastic about hammocks but then I'm finding myself realizing why!

I've got a DRZ400 and DR650. The DR is my primary bike for commuting and trips. But, the DRZ is the main reason I wanted to lighten and compact my setup to just a back pack for those more remotely isolated and difficult to get to camping spots.

I ride around the Tellico and Murphy NC area a few times a year. Don't know if you've done any of the Beaver rallies out at Crawfords Campground near Murphy, but if not, you should definitely check it out. Good times! Maybe I'll see you there this fall.

I have heard of the Beaver rides and several friends have a few beaver stickers (like kill stickers) for each year they have gone. It usually falls on a mandatory working weekend for me. Argh!!

The 650 is a nice compliment when you want to meander around where the 400's are the 'okay, now we are here, let the fun begin' machines.

Good pair to have! Now where did I misplace that new Multistrada I haven't had the extra funds to buy yet? lol
