Ok so I got my hammock stuff in today and made my whoopie slings and tree straps. I was wanting to make a whoopie sling for my ridgeline but need to know how long I should make it?
So far I am loving this amsteel. That's pretty sweet stuff!

There is a general rule of thumb that says the ridgeline should be 83% (or 5/6) of the hammock length. But, I like mine about 89%. Ask 10 other people and you'll get 10 different answers. I suggest making the ridgeline whoopie such that you can go from 80% to 90% of your hammock length and you will surely find your own preferred length within that range.

There is a common thought that ridgeline guide is about 83 percent of your hammock length. I would use this as a start point personally. My adjustable ridgelines tend to be a bit before 83% and top out around 108, 110 or 112 inches (my hammocks have been getting longer)!
