ok ok lads i think i,ve taken it on the chin this time.plenty of reindeer in these parts and haggis , these are really hard to hunt,i use a reindeer hide quite a bit in the winter and i think you would be hard pushed to beat it for insulation with any man made synthetics.
OK, I had to do a search on the haggis.
Now I'm wondering if it's something like we do here called a "snipe hunt"...
or maybe it's something like the elusive "jackalope"???
I too will something make and joy in it's making
No, haggis is a traditional Scottish food. It is famous for other cultures being suspicious of eating it.
It is known with the same suspicion as 'chitlins', I suspect.

The haggis I have had is quite good actually. Although it may have been Americanized even though it was served at a Celtic Festival.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Ahhhh... I see. I got the ideas I mentioned from this page...

But judging by the description in Angrysparrow's link, I might be a little hesitant to bite into one too
But back to the reindeer skin, I wonder what kinds of layers the Eskimos used??? It had to be all natural traditionally.

I have always wanted to try chitlins but have not had the chance. I have been warned against the cheap frozen ones available around here. It seems they need cleaned in a big way. But I ain't gonna make them myself. Something this born and bred northern white boy who was raised vegetarian just doesn't sit too well with trying to propare my own chitlins. I'll just wait until I can get them prepared properly

a snipe hunt does happen in scotland ,and you need to be really good with a 12 bore for them ,they are fast
I'll stick to the rein deer kabobs You boys can keep the chitlins. I aint eatin NO intestines of NUTTIN!!!!First person tghat thought of Mountain Oysters Must have been real **** hungry TOO!!!
I think the Hide blanket would be great for winter if weight wasn't a concern. i.e. poulk sled or dog sled or ATV or snowmobile.
