used down bag ID and wonderings

lucked out yesterday and bought a down mummy bag at a local thrift store for $5, it is in mint condition, smells fresh, no holes or stains.
the tag on it says 28 oz fill material, 100% grey goose down, and it has a little black tag with a white elk on it.
does anyone here know the make of this and the comfort range of 28oz.
i know down can vary a lot.
i was looking for one to cut up for an under bonnet but this one is too nice and better than any bag ive owned.
ive found that june and july are the best months to find deals on winter gear and heaters

    Sounds like a great find.

The real measure of temperature rating is in the loft. Lay it out, and measure the thickness of one layer of the bag. 2" is about 30 degrees...

Now that you have that beauty, what are you wanting to do with it?

hi, thanks for answerin john, i measured and it looks like it's about 2 3/4", so should be plenty warm for the south. i frequently wake up in the 30's in the wintertime on board the sailboat.
i plan to use it as my main bag from late fall to spring, fleece or dark sheet with beech towel under me in the hot months.
i may turn my old bag into an under quilt.
any idea what that little black tag with a white elk on it means?

Great find! Any chance you could post a picture of the tags?
