I've re-tied, but I don't think there's enought fabric to keep the whoopie from sliding over it again, and eventually off the fabric altogether. Any suggestions from the community?

    Thanks!
Knotty's no-sew method works very well, turning these tablecloths into hammocks. You just have to use a thin enough line (like mason's line) to run through the (very small) factory seams. Knotty's method uses the seam just to create a gather. Good luck!

Thanks Pips. I reviewed the video and didn't see where he used the existing hem to create the gather. That's really what I need. The problem isn't the knot or the zip tie. It's not having enough of a bulge of fabric past the knot or tie for the whoopie to abut without slipping over and eventually pulling out.

But, I think this REALLY means its time for me to find a thread injector.

Oh, sorry. I didn't mean that Knotty used a tablecloth to make his. But his method still works. I made a hammock from a tablecloth using his method just a few weeks ago. Like I said, the hardest part is getting your fid and gathering line through that tiny seam.

Knotty's method of turning the gather back on itself and then tying off ensures that there is plenty of bulk in the knot to keep the lark's head from slipping off. Mine turned out well--and no sewing!

Pips, I did mine the same way a couple of wks ago.
I used a tiny webbing(1/8") to run through the end seems to form the gather.

bdaabad if you go back to justjeffs page and follow his instruction on how to tie the gather with rope rather than a zip tie it works great. You just have to make sure you get it real tight. I did it and it is rock solid. Knotty's style works well too. I did both on my hammock and like both. I did sew end channels though and I am glad I did but only because I found another thread with another idea I want to try that requires the end channel. Another option with the zip tie would be to zip tie the end and then fold the material on the end back over the zip tie and place another zip tie over that. That would create plenty of bulk. Not sure how this would affect the lay of the hammock but it is an option.

Thanks for the rapid responses! Following Pips advice, I've threaded the ends and tied everything off. Actually, have now done this for three tablecloths, errrrr...hammocks! Just waiting for the rain to stop so we can go check them out.

    Thanks again!
