    Bois Blanc Island, MI

Going to hang up there for about four days. Have nothing planned yet. What should I do? Anyone have some ideas or experience with the island?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've never been to the island, my folks have been there a number of times and it sounds like there's not much going on, but they weren't backpacking or anything. So I guess I'm no help. Have fun tho' maybe its like an East side N. Manitou Island.
    Good luck,

    Not backpacking the entire time

My first thoughts were hopefully we get a calm day and we try to paddle over to Round Island and stealth camp over there. Only going to be there for three days, so maybe I just nap the whole time in my hammock and call that vacation!

That sounds like a good time to just relax. I've wondered about Round Island - I would love to hang there!! I figured it was legal to camp there being part of a national forest but I could be wrong, and that would also depend on your definition of "stealth".

    Stealth camping

Nothing illegal intended, just would paddle over and depending on time of day, either take a nap over there, or spend the night. Would just be a quick trip, nothing longer than 12 hours.

I just mentioned it because some people refer to "stealth camping" as camping on private property. In this case I believe it is totally legal, and would like to do a similar trip...just not sure about getting my kayak out there (always looks easier on the map!)

When are you heading out there?

    round island

My friend and I took his Zodiac boat to round island and camped out for two days. This was 10 plus years ago but it was a good time camping with no problems. I think it is legal to camp there as it is national forest.

The 378-acre island is totally National Forest System land and is administered as a part of the St. Ignace Ranger District of the Hiawatha National Forest.
