How I have lightened up my hammock

Since I had the camera in hand today, I decided to shoot a short video on how I have my Blackbird rigged up. Please forgive the quality of the video and my hemhawing around. I don't do a lot of videos, so my delivery leaves a lot to be desired. I also do not have a good video editing program, so what I shot with the camera is what you get. I hope the video gives someone else some ideas on how to lighten up their rig and have it still meet their needs.
I believe I thanked Bear Chaser in the video, but just in case I forgot: Thanks Bear Chaser, your ideas were great! I am still pretty new to posting videos, so I have posted a youtube link to the video

The link to the video is: http://youtu.be/K15Bzd1Eo_E

Nice mods! Enjoyed the video. Thx for sharing. I also use. Dynaglide whoopies. Have a single 1.1 wbbb. I might have to do some mods on the shelf cord & cord on door.

    The barn looks cool!

Nice mods. I like that the pullouts are removable with the quilt hooks.

It's nice to stake them out then hook or unhook to get in and out without having to duck under the lines, etc.

Nice!! Is the blackbird single layer? How Much weight did you save by changing the ridgeline?

Lady, when you get practiced up, you're going to be real good. You don't need to step back on that video, real good it is. Good work on the gear, too.

Great video, CR! And thanks to Bear Chaser, my 25 oz. 1.1 single layer Blackbird with webbing is down to 17.7 oz with whoopies. Yours is at 16 oz and I think Bear Chaser's is under a pound.

I used dynaglide for my ridgeline and whoopies. I have amsteel as the hammock ends cords My 4ft. huggers are from Hennessy. And like you I used lighter cord for the wing pullouts. I have mine in sil snakeskins which are heavier than that nice cuben stuff sack that you two use, but I really like them. Maybe net skins will be in my future for a bit of weight savings.

I did save my original webbing and amsteel hammock end cord and it's really easy to switch out if I'm heading somewhere with big trees and want the webbing suspension.

I'm extremely happy with the light weight and comfort of my Blackbird. Others should definitely benefit from this video!

Great job with the mods. There's no substitute for tenacity when reducing weight. Most would say these small weight savings aren't worth the effort. But, what they don't realize is that it's the total that counts!

Looks good CR. My only question is do you have any problems with getting your suspension short enough for trees that are close together. The continuous loops as well as the fixed eye buries on the whoopies looked like they could prevent you from getting short enough for certain hanging locations. May not be an issue depending on where you usually hang so I was just wondering. Thanks for the video.
