I have mounts up on our deck for my WBBB. Metal hooks actually so the chance of them failing is slim.
My wife is 6 months pregnant now. I cannot get her out of the hammock of a weekend if she feels like a snooze in the afternoon.
She says is very comfortable and better than the bed as the fabric wraps over the bump and supports it. She sorta lays on her side.
I just have to make up an excuse to get her out so I can have a go.....
I am a GEAR JUNKIE and GRAM COUNTER !!
There, It's out. I said it, Ahh I feel better now
I appreciate all your comments. When I posted the question I was thinking that perhaps a hammock might offer some comfort and support to my daughter-in-law and the baby. But now I'm not so sure if this is a good idea....
I'll let you all know!

My wife did several overnights in a hammock while she was 7-8 months pregnant. She didn't have any problems. In fact, I think she slept better.

My wife has spent more than a few pregnant naps and nights in the DIY dl I made her. Just double check the suspension before each use put a pad or soft landing under her just in case. I don't think risk is all that high especially the farther along she is, that little one is very well protected inside momma.
Fall risk IS a big deal, it doesn't take much to start to cause problems. The little one is NOT well protected from blunt trauma. It is highly likely that it would be very comfortable to sleep and lay for all the reasons why we like them too.
I do let my wife lay in mine however, the farther along she gets the less likely I am to do so. The main reason is the lack of agility and the farther along you go the higher the risk if trauma damage occurs. Falls are a big deal, anything that moves when you try to get out of it also makes it more difficult when unbalanced. The lower to the floor you make it makes it harder for them to get out.
Well, considering that there have been many dozens of generations born and raised in hammocks in Central and South America, I would hazard a guess that sleeping in a hammock as a pregnant woman is quite well documented. Would a fall be bad, of course it would. Should a pregnant woman avoid staircases too? I would think that extra precautions would be taken in how the hammock is hung, but to say it is dangerous is almost laughable unless the pregnant woman is already living in a bubble and safe from all random accidents. If a person is that concerned with the chances of a fall, then line the floor below with big cushy pillows/cushions to lessen any impact by slowing the fall down instead of ending it abruptly.
FWIW, Genuine Draft and I have been sleeping nightly from the same anchors for more than 3 years now. We sleep together in the same hammock often and even partake of consensual activities in the hammocks. There have been zero failures with either of our hammocks.
If it provides comfort to someone who has forgotten the definition of that word, then check your anchor points and suspension and let her have at it IMO.
Trust nobody!

I'm envisioning a bottom entry hammock.
It'll be easier for her to get into than flopping over the side, and when the time comes, Junior can plop right out the bottom into his own gear hammock hanging underneath. Everybody's comfy and you don't have to interupt your hammocking hiatus. It's a total win-win!
Okay... jk...
I agree with most everyone else here. Don't take any unneccessary risks.
