@Fronkey yeah I know what you mean about kiba never leaving your side. My pup on leash or off never travels more than 10 or so paces from me and keeps very close watch as to where I'm at and what I'm doing. Sometimes this can be a pain specifically when you're trying to do your own thing in the woods.

Thank's fronkey, I was looking forward to this video! I'll try to show it to my mom and make her more comfortable with me taking "her" dog out. I doubt it will work... But its worth a shot!

I really need another dog. I much prefer the company of my pups over people any day! Unfortunately my one dog is getting old and has hip problems and the other is my moms "baby girl" so I have no good hiking buddies

Thanks Callahan! Tala is happy you didn't spill coffee on yourself, but she thinks that would have been funny.

Thanks for posting some links to what your dog uses.

I can't remember which forum I saw it on (Bushcraft Forum, I think), but one of the members used a gear hammock for his dog, had an under quilt an all. His pup slept right bellow him.
It was Wv's dog. I am hoping he chimes in on this topic because I have always been curious if his dog sleeps in it overnight or just for small amounts of time.

Because dogs aren't like us where they are willing to sleep in something that rocks around. The only reason my pup sleeps in a hammock is because I'm in it with her.

I could be wrong, but my guess is his dog is the exception.
Really cool idea though, which is no surprise coming from WV.

Take your dog out for some back yard hangs and get her comfortable first. If your mom sees "baby girl" loving it out there with you, she may just say "yes" to a trip out. What kind of dog is it anyways?

I have no trees in the back yard that I can hang from and the parents are't too keen on me installing a few posts to hang from. I tried to explain it could be used for a clothes line too!! I'll build a turtle dog stand one of these days, then i'll give that a try.

And she's a goldendoodle. A golden retriever and standerd poodle mix. Supposed to have the personalty of a golden retriever and the coat of a poodle so she doesn't shed. Somehow I don't have a pic of her but this looks like her twin! http://cdn.buzznet.com/assets/imgx/7...ig-7953991.jpg

good video. people always ask me about hammocking with a dog. i don't really see the problem. as long as the dog is under 50 lbs i think its pretty easy. the only issue i have with mine is she is a tosser and turner and so am i. i guess the one other thing i run into is keeping her sharp claws off my expensive down sleeping bag.
