    Homemade Dry Bag?

Four weeks from now I'm going on a two week wilderness survival trip where we will be fording a large river & crossing a series of lakes on a make shift raft. This is mostly being done for fun but also to please a local cable network... and I drew the short straw for carrying the weight & responsibility of the filming equipment.

Basically I need to make a dry sack I can fit my whole pack into. I was thinking to make the bottom roll and clasp just like the top to eliminate any seam issues. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

    Pack: LL Bean Bigalow 13" x 24"

Any ideas on material, thread, stitching, clasps, etc...

    Not homemade...

...but I have some of these and they are quite strong and light.
Gentle raindrops and mighty oceans...neither can exist without the other.
Time heals all wounds...but it usually leaves a pretty big scar.

For true waterproofing, I'd recommend a Heat Sealable fabric. The waterproofing on that stuff is really durable. QuestOutfitters has some available.

Thank you for the link, I had no idea they made Ziplocks this big! I might get these to take as a last resort if a homemade dry bag fails testing

Yes, the plan is for my entire pack (camera, new hammock & dry clothes) to fit in one dry bag, especially since we will be crossing several lakes and a makeshift raft will tend to float 2-4" below the waterline! It is a medium sized camera with three batteries & hand crank charger. I would rather just make one large bag to keep everything dry than a small one for the film gear.

    Any recommendations on fabric type?
    I was looking at http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/p...oated-fabrics/
But I don't know how to read the thicknesses or what others would recommend for water resistance.

Just wondering if a large clothing storage vacuum bag would work/

You know the one that is clear and compresses. I think you can get some air out without a vacuum.

Under the item description I found this link to a DIY Drybag PDF
    http://www.questoutfitters.com/DIY%2...Dry%20Bags.pdf

    Might make a good sticky.

Would you recommend the 200d over the 70d for water resistance?
I'm not concerned over the 1-2oz. weight difference.
