They offer more warmth and tend to be softer against the skin. My opinion, anyway.

On that topic, a Mayan hammock is a thing of beauty and joy on a hot day. But, once you start getting into the shoulder season and winter, the open weave of the Mayans starts leaving much to want. Again, JMO, but for year-round sleeping I believe the Brazilians are the best bet. If you don't have A/C in your house, then a Mayan for the summer months and a Brazilian for the rest of the year is near ideal. If you keep your house cool during the colder months, you'll still likely need some form of insulation below you, but you won't need much.
    Trust nobody!

Ticket to the moon purpose the double hammock if you want comfort and breathable fabric
In the Double hammock you can sleep horizontally
You will get more comfortable in a hammock parachute than in a cotton.

You'll start with one but could find like many of us here that one is just a beginning. There are folks that will buy a top sheet and whip the ends to make a hammock. You could have a variety of fabrics and sizes to determine what suits your needs best, on a budget. Watch for sales on ripstop nylon and check garage sales for used sewing machines to help you make your own. It's a process of joy of discovery with rewards of comfort and knowledge, and sense of pride in what you can do. Your choice is a great start, but check all the DIY help here for ideas on what you might like different or better from what you start with. There's tremendous material and fantastic support here. Your journey is just beginning, this hammock is not an end but an entry. Welcome and enjoy!
