    Hennessy Hyperlite backpacker underquilt

    Hi All
After finishing my top quilt it was time to start on a underquilt.
I stated by printing the pattern available from the hammockcamping yahoo group and transfered that to a large sheet of brown paper.
On the last weekend I bought a plain white king size bed sheet for $2.00 at out local markets. I traced around the paper onto the sheet then cut the whole thing out.

In these photos I have pined it to the hammock to get an idea of fit, it looks pretty good to me
I now have to choose some shell material, I wold like to use the digi cam 1.1 oz ripstop I have received from FanaticFringer but think it might be too breathable and wind will pass straight through it.
I plan to use climashield combat from thru-hiker as the insulation layer.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions I'd be happy to read them.
    Gunn

Looks like a small version of the KAQ. Are there instructions with this anywhere?

If you can get a spray on Durable Waterproof Repellent (DWR) & apply it to the 1.1 ripstop, I believe that would be a noticeable improvement in wind (& water) resistance.
If you can get the spray, you could test it on the fabric before deciding about using it for the under quilt.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I believe that the old Yahoo group that was pre-HF is no longer in existence. Perhaps one of the Mods can chime in here....

I was thinking the part covering the side pullouts really doesn't help keep you warm. You could make it a bit narrower and just let the pullouts come over the underquilt.
