leave hanging or pack it up?

I am very lucky to have a large covered screened deck on the back of my house. I have 4 large eye bolts on the rafters and am hanging while typing this.

My question is in regards to the fabric being left out here. The angle of my house lets virtually no rain back here and I have dog grade super fine screen letting almost no bugs in. I think my screen on out here is torturing them.

I also am on the edge of a very large wildlife management area with tons of trees shading my house. So no sun hits the deck all day.

Ok... to the actual question. Is leaving my hammock hung out in the open air for extended periods of time going to shorten its lifespan?

This question was spurred by the texture of the material. After haning for a few days the fabric has a drive feeling to it compared to when its fresh out of the bag.

You could always get a hammock for your porch and just leave it there, and then have one for camping. I'm not sure that leaving it in covered, screened area is really a problem at all, especially if that is where you'll use it the most.

If there is no moisture and no UV rays then I can't see a problem.

any material is gonna wear. That being said, I'd look into a cheapy hammock to hang on the porch. Plus, even though it's protected, still check it for things like spiders. Otherwise, you should be fine with it hanging all the time.

I keep a Mayan hammock out in the back. Known as the Yard Sloth.

Again no UV. I once faded a silny tarp in a week. I was experimenting and left it up 24/7. It was still ok but visualy damaged.

Just from looking at the mold/mildew on chair cushions left out on the porch and also the dust that seems to find its way there as well, I think I would be taking my hammock back inside after use.

I guess after reading a few suggestions to take it down, I configured my hardware. I now have some short webbing straps to make taking the hammock down a lot quicker. Ill see how it works out. Thanks for the input!
