Thinking of snakeskins for my tarp? How much of a difference do they make? Are they worth it? and if so any suggestions. Thanks.

Do what I did to decide if I wanted them. Hang your tarp and then take some rope or shock cord and roll and tie the tarp up. That is what it will look like except you can do it faster. Also if you get the mesh version they will be able to dry some as they are in the skins.
Where ever you go,
There you are.
Theyare AMAZING! Do it! font buy them- they are easy to make. They are so much more versatile than stuff sacks. You can set them up on their ridgeline and keep them wrapped up until it rains, than quickly stake it out. It is easier to pack then folding it into stuff sacks. It is easy to set up in the wind- no more blowing around while you tie up the ridgeline. The only down side is they tend to pack a little larger than stuff sacks, but ITS WORTH IT! they have easily cut my setup/ takedown times in half

I use them and really like them fast setup and take down.
I have folded tarps for a long time,,taking the time to roll up the lines, fold them nicely,,and put in the bag...snake skins for me,,are so much quicker, moreso in rain,,as you wrap your lines around the tarp and slide the skins on (with a little practice) and you are good to go,,and let it rain. Try folding the tarp in the rain taking your time,,and see how much it weighs packing it wet.

After using snake skins I can honestly say I will use them from now on.
I'm very pleased with mine. I got them from Kat at http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/cott...orage-sleeves/ As others have said above, the tarp can stay in the sleeves until you need them and if they're wet, I strap them on the outside of my pack and they can be drying as I head down the trail.
I will second the suggestion to get them from Kat at mt goat. Money well spent.
Mostly made from mosq netting, with a pocket for the ridgeline ends. I like the ease the skins make it for set up and take down.
Thanks for all the input. It's helped, been undecided about this. Snakeskins it is!!
