Should I fix this machine

I just got a nelco n-400 made in japan . Overall decent shape.
All cabels intact and in good shape, pedal works, light works .
thread holder is broken and bobbin wheel has duct tape on it to make a good connection to the main wheel. At slow speed it feels off balance (shakes my table a tad bit ) full throttle runs nice. Any suggestions welcome. I couldnt find much about them on the web.

My aunt had one of those and sewed a million miles on it. Good all metal machine IIRC.

Should you fix it? I'd be tempted to have it professionally serviced or at least get an estimate. Or maybe that's not the way you roll...

IMO, there's nothing much more frustrating than a sewing machine with "issues."

Thread holder is no biggy. You can Rube Goldberg an alternative. Bobbin winder is most likely repairable. The innards are another story and there I would suggest a go over by a mechanic. It should be a good machine. But if the bobbin doesn't wind properly it is going to create major issues. Probably why the machine was no longer used to start with.
