Yep - I've got GrizzlyAdams' post bookmarked.

I've taken off the hooks and replaced them with rings and at some point I'll see if my wife can figure out how to sew that "grosgrain" (where do you get that?) and make the internal ridgeline mod as well. That seems very slick and I like the fact I could hang stuff inside the hammock.

As a newbie - what is the benefit of tying the ridgeline to the rope very near the hammock vs. say the rings?

that's a kick*ss setup, but I gotta say , I like the lie in the SBP without the ridgeline so far, it looks like the ridgeline makes the hammock dip more? My hang right now, when I lie diagonal I am almost perfectly flat. Still, having that suspension cord inside is pretty pimpin. I would usually hang all my stuff outside the bug net attached to my tarp line and just bring a small flashlight and waterbottle in with me. Love it. Sweet hang.

For a ridgeline that stays outside of the netting, there isn't any particular advantage to tying near the hammock versus the rings, except perhaps one takes more cord. For the ridgeline inside the bugnet trick though you want that ridgeline as low as it will go, otherwise it is pulling up the netting unnecessarily and putting tension on the place where the ridgeline enters the netted area.

laowei--what a structural ridgeline does is ensure a minimum sag. With an adjustable one you can set it wherever you like. So you can have a flatish sag, with a ridgeline inside, if you like. My personal preference for these kinds of hammocks is flatness through big sag big diagonal, so that's what my pictures show. I can just as easily set the ridgeline longer and pull the hammock out longer.

I'm assuming it's not under as much load as the supporting lines so it doesn't need to be that hefty??
