    Which bag liner?

It seems GA skipped winter and spring this year. I am already looking to ditch my 45 degree bag for the summer.

My cheap poly liner is reaching the end of its life and I need a summer TQ.

Which bag liner do you all recommend for hot and humid as a top cover? I dont really need it for winter warmth, but i guess thats a bonus. Weight matters, but comfort/performance matters more.
    I'm looking at these

    Cocoon Coolmax liner
    Sea to summit coolmax liner
    Sea to Summit Thermolite Reactor
Sea to Summit Silk ( has poor reviews on durability)
    Others?

Do any of our cottage vendors sell coolmax or silk in sizes to make a TQ?

Jacks r better has a fleecE summer TQ, but it just seems as f it would be much hotter than silk or the coolmax. Also, it is pretty heavy @ 18oz

I am also interested in folks thoughts on this. I am in the market for a light weight summer bag or liner too.

You might want to consider a military poncho liner. I use them in the warmer months

    Poncho Liner

+1 on the poncho liner. I use one year-round down here in FL.

They're great for any temperature from 40 to 75; above that, I personally prefer to sleep without any top insulation on me. Above 50, I don't even worry about making a footbox with the ties.

Durable, cheap, and light for the price (though not light overall; they're ~18 oz). If you can, go and feel the fabric before you buy; the issue liners will have a softer hand to the nylon shell than the Chinese imported ones. It makes a difference in comfort. At least, it has to me.

Wilderness Logic's has a new Summer Series that is sewn through. I will be testing the new TQ after Trail Days and plan to take it to the Gorge Rat Gathering.

the reactor would be a good one to buy if your are using it as a stand alone under 50 degrees...i would still sleep on a pad

A cotton sheet works great. I've been using one for years as a sleeping bag liner. It helps keep the inside of the bag clean and after a few trip just toss it in the washing machine. It packs up small too. Fold a twin size sheet in half and stich the botton and up the side about 24" to create a footbox. It is also good to have when first getting into a sleeping bag when it is too hot to close it up. The sheet knocks off the chill until the body cools off enough requiring to close up the sleeping bag for the night.

I use a Swiss Army Surplus fleece mummy liner that you can buy on Ebay 2 for $20. I've used them as both a TQ and as a mummy bag inside the hammock. They have a draw string at the top that can be tied to a prusik on the ridgeline to keep them in place making it easier to get in and out of. I've also used two of them without a UQ, one as a mummy bag and the other as a TQ and it worked well in the 50-60 degree range. Ther does seem to be a bit of a benefit laying with fleece between your body and the hammock fabric in the higher temps close to those where no UQ would be required.

I've also gotten a silk liner that I'll be testing as soon as the nights get hot here in TX. The theory is that the silk will wick the moisture on the body and spread it out over a larger area for rapid evaporation, thus lowering temps a bit. I modded it with a channel at the top through which I ran a length of shock cord that I've tied to a prusik on the ridgeline. So far its fairly easy to get in and out of one you get used to it and its way more comfortable laying on it than on the hammock itself when dressed in sujmmer sleep wear. It hasn't gotten warm enough here yet to see how well the evaporation theory holds up.

Poncho liner. I use mine for everything.
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest places if you look at it right.
