Fantastic!! I guess i never looked at this design (seems to take up a lot of space at the ends) very seriously for my own use, but i really like the way its put together!! Whats the whole stand (including whatever extras you need for it) weigh? My 1" pipeframe stand is pretty heavy

What kind of knot did you use to hang the pipe?

Finally have pictures of my completed TurtleDog stand. I don't currently have a hammock or tarp attached.

So during the hurricane Irma I thought it would be a good idea to hang in the house with the TD stand. I drilled a hole through each leg and ran some paracord figuring it would keep the legs in place. I hung my hammock carefully got it and was on the ground within 5 seconds. Apparently, The rope going through the legs does nothing on laminate wood floors the legs still easily slide all over the place along the rope. Lesson learned, slightly painful. I guess if I try this next time, or if anyone else wants to, I'd recommend tying each leg off rather than just running a continuous line through all the legs.

I finally broke down and made a couple for the wife and I. We have a postage stamp yard and no trees so any hanging I got in was special out in the woods time. Built them a couple weekends ago and I've been in it for at least a little bit at least 8 days. Slept in them this last Saturday night. I'm totally hooked. A little fire, a couple beverages and a wonderful nights sleep.
    Cheers,

How long did you make that pole? Is that a trick of the angle or does that seem to be around 15'

My uprights are right around 6 foot and the posts are 5'7" each, of full diameter. I put my eye bolts in 3" from the ends and I can just loop my CLs over the pipe and hop in. That does mean I can more or less only use my 11' hammocks with 8" CLs, but that's not much of a problem. I will likely make up some sort of daisy chain thing for the kids hammocks to hang on at some point. They have 9.5 footers.

I have finally gotten around to making my stands. I haven't trimmed the legs and I'm not really sure I will as I kind of like the height of my tarp.

I have some spare wooden poles 55" x 2" x 2". Do you think it's worth it to try the Turtle Dog or it won't work with that low height? I have both a single (2m) and a double (3m) hammock to use with it if needed!
