the T-nuts are a nice touch

allen head machine screws(bolts) could resolve your socket wrench issue

tying your legs together could be a solution to the spreading issue

there are reports of end caps like you are using failing

Actually the legs of the stand move closer when I get in the hammock. I didn't know what spacing to put them out and just took a shot in the dark on the length of the Paracord.

All the S hooks at Lowe's weren't rated anywhere close to what I needed. Most were 25lbs. That's why I went with the end cap. That and to extend the tying point out as it's a close for for my hammock just over 10 feet. Only one hang in it so far. Thanks for the input.

Fairly certain I've read through the majority of these posts and I'm still just a little confused.

I've got a 11' hammock I've made from RSBTR and would like to have a stand.

Top rail poles from HD measure 10'6". If I cut in two for transport and then put them back together I'll have an overall length of 10'3".

Eye bolts should be in 2" on either side with hammock attached outside this point.

Is the 10' ridge pole long enough? Or do I need to cut two ridge poles so I have more than 10' when put back together?

    thank you for the help

Having tried it both ways I recommend using 2 poles to get it longer, 13' should be plenty. Depending on how you attach the hammock one pole can work but it's tight and won't have much adjustability so you are stuck at a certain height, etc. The other disadvantage I found is I can't run my 11' tarp under the shorter ridgepole.

Thanks for the insight. I'll shoot for 13' overall length, I can always cut more off if I feel it's needed.

Put together the tripods this evening before dinner. Looking pretty rough but I didn't want to make a career out of building them, just need to be good enough.

    Thanks for sharing these.

What I get from Post #1615 is that you cut both top rails and end up with 3 pieces.

Two pieces at 41" that have the tapered end.
One piece at 72" that you insert the tapered ends into.

Reading a couple of pages further it seems people are ending up with a top rail that separates into 3 pieces. The long 72" section is for the center where the highest force would be.

    Am I interpreting this correctly?
    thanks

    full hammock 1.jpgbent hinge.jpg

    7' legs and 5" hinges
2 ridgeline poles at 41" and center pole at 6'

Using some Atlas straps I had on the shelf. Sandbag to test.

I've already had an issue falling once today (may have either been a result of or caused the bent hinge).

When I get into hammock, or use the sandbag, my 10' ridgeline goes slack.

Seems like I'm in the weeds with this thing.
