I used 2 yds of this stuff to make a secondary/emergency tarp that weights all of about 5oz. It's only 60"sq but has been a nice multipurpose item. From kitchen tarp, fire reflector, sunshade, to tarp skirt. it's a useful bit of kit and weights very little. I'm still trying to come up with a rigging system as light & versitle as the tarp itself.

This material even comes in green; though I used the dark blue.

Put the silver up in the day and flip it over on its ridgeline for the night.

Haven't seen anything like it yet, have y'all?

Sorry Shnick. You are 30 years late. Linked below is a norwegian tarp. I google tranlated the company product information for you

The purpose of Fjellduken (mountain tarp) was to be a multi-use item. A tarp, a sleepeng bag cover, a rain coat, camoflage and protection from the elements when stationary moose hunting. It is aluminum coated and can also be used to protect big game meat from overheating in the sun and from flies that will lay eggs in the meat.

I also have a lavo/tipi with simillar aluminum fabric. But it can not be inverted, but the purpose of the coating is to both keep heat in when cold and out when warm.

"This is the very first mountaintarp. Both the product and the name of Fjellduken was invented in 1982 by Jerven company.

...Original Mountain fjellduken has been and will remain unchanged! To say it like that, the wheel can not be rounded. True enough, we have created several new models of Fjellduken, but they will always be In addition, not instead of the aluminun coated polyster tarp...

This is the cloth for small game hunter, fisherman, hikers and others who are moving outdoors."

    Thanks everyone...

You might want to check the specs on the Big Daddy again. The ridge line length choices are 132 and 144, the 115 is the tarp width.
In addition to the Big Otter in green, I'm also getting a Big Daddy in brown.

Ah ok, I read it as 132" by 115" ridgeline or 144" ridgeline...
"Big Daddy" with (4) side panel pullouts. 1.2 Silnylon, 132" x 115" Or 144'' RL

Either way, I just found this:

These folks have a good selection of fabric choices, one of which is the reflective material. I'm probably being picky, but I'm not a DIY'er, and once I buy something I like to explore all options. I also do my best to take care of my stuff.

Thanks Trooper, I'm looking for Black on one side, reflective on the other. Lawson made him a great tarp though.

Green is not the coolest color. The only reason we associate it with cool is because the evaporation from the living plants cools things off.

I have been looking at these, trying to talk myself into one,

    FLY TARP

THIS HAS 2 SIDES ONE IN GREEN AND THE OTHER IN SILVER (THIS DEFLECTS THE HEAT AND GIVES YOU PROTECTION IN ALL WEATHERS). GREAT FOR RAIN THE WATER JUST DRAINS OFF, AND IS VERY QUICK TO DRY

A GREAT AND HANDY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. LIGHT WEIGHT, AND TAKES UP VERY LITTLE SPACE. REALLY HANDY IF THE WEATHER TURNS NASTY

MATERIAL IS NYLON SIZE IS 2X3 METERS, WEIGHT IS APPROX 370 GRAMS AND PACKS UP SMALL. IT HAS 6 FIXING LOOPS, 3 PER SIDE

I ALSO DO A 3X3 AND 3X4 TARPS IF REQUIRED

PLEASE ASK FOR A QUOTE FOR THE SET
He lists it as a 2 meter x 3 meter tarp for $16.99 with $19.99 shipping,

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/FLY-TARP-CAM...item43af4a8e55

Has anyone had any experience with the vendor

Interesting read might make you think twice about your tarp color. Black may be cooler.

I had read this theory several years ago, the link explains it nicely
