My first hang - What to expect?

Alright I'm coming to all of you experienced hangers who have convinced me to get a hammock!!!

My first hang is next weekend. In my experience of hiking and camping if found that it takes a few trips and a lot of trial and error until I'm finally fully prepared.

What are some of the things you wish you knew or wish you brought for your first hang?

My first hang away from home went perfect but only because I had spent several nights sleeping in my hammock in my back yard prior to going on the trip. If you haven't done that then I would recommend you spend the rest of your time working the kinks out and getting everything dialed in at home so that you can go in and sleep on a bed if things aren't working.

Working the kinks out five miles away from your car at 2 a.m. would probably not be much fun

Aside from that my only other advice is get ready to have a good nights sleep out in the woods!

Always have insulation under you. Pad if you don't have a quilt. Something to use as a pillow.

Here is a good thread that will give you ideas to what a lot of people wish they had on their first hang. Have a blast out there.

For me I would do most of the troubleshooting at home before a trip. Than my first
trip would be not to far from home/pavement just in case.

What Trigger said... Find a place to hang tonight at home, work some of the bugs out BEFORE you're out in the woods!
